Puppy Power Hour

I got a puppy, now what?

Description

*Open to the Public and totally FREE!* Limited capacity: reservation required. Join Puppy Power Hour for an hour of learning, exploration, and proper socialization that translates to lifelong skills. Designed exclusively for puppies 8-16 weeks and their families, Puppy Power Hour is hosted every Saturday at 11am. The first 4 months of your puppy's life are critical. Now is the time to recognize, acknowledge, and reward good behavior while discerning when to interfere to squash bad habits before they form. Puppies don't come with user manuals, and ready or not, they are learning based on trial and error every minute of the day. Let our expert instructors help guide you through what to expect when raising a puppy, common misconceptions, and helpful tips to make your first few months excellent. Puppy Power Hour provides: • Safety: A sanitized space for your pup to become confident and well-adjusted • Variety: Friendly and educational interactions with other puppies and people • Training: ○ Identifying and rewarding good behaviors while recognizing and modifying bad behaviors ○ Exposure unknown to sounds, smells, and activities ○ Support, guidance, and practice for AKC S.T.A.R Puppy behavior requirements. Certification awarded after attending 6 weeks of class and passing a skills exam. • Supervision: Our expert instructors are actively engaged, ensuring safe and appropriate socialization • Exercise: You'll have a very tired puppy! New puppies are happier dogs if properly trained. Early and proper socialization can't be redone later. The longer you wait, the greater your risk for developing unwanted social behaviors, fearful experiences, and overall anxiety in everyday situations. Be your puppy's biggest advocate and join us for a fun learning experience! Small breed and/or shy puppies may attend until 20 weeks of age. All puppies must be up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, as recommended by your Veterinarian. In support of The American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior and Purdue University Veterinary School's studies on the effects of puppy classes, puppy socialization, and vaccinations, we do NOT require full vaccinations for Puppy Power Hour. The need for early socialization far outweighs the risks of waiting until fully vaccinated. Please see our FAQs for direct links to publications. Children under 13 are not permitted during Puppy Power Hour.
